Saadiq Wicks is 17 and has stuttered for as long as he could speak. At age 9, he founded “Lllet Me Finish” a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth who stutter. After experiences with bullying and dealing with listeners’ impatience, he wanted to raise awareness about what a person who stutters goes through. When he was 13, he teamed up with his mother to pen an informative children’s book titled When Oliver Speaks. The book explores Wicks’s journey to overcome his challenges and accept the way he speaks without shame or embarrassment.
